The rise of Afro Futurism can be attributed to monarchs such as Sun Ra and his Arkestra. While I have no problem with that interpretation, I offer an additional foundation: The Wiz. Not only did The Wiz join two super humans: Michael Jackson and the legendary Quincy Jones, it single handedly appropriated the dream of being an African American. The Wiz was Jazz reincarnated.
